April 16, 2013 | Leave a comment It is all about living a life controlled by the Spirit of God in all areas of life. Romans 8:1-17, Gen 1:1-2 Life in the Spirit from day to day is of tremendous importance. There are many odds against Christians today. Our continual victory in this world of sin lies in our consciousness of the life in the Spirit and daily exercise of obedience to the Spirit of God. The Christian life starts in the Spirit, must be sustain in the Spirit for total victory. The Spirit of God in man differentiates him from other men. Holy Spirit condemns and convicts sin in man and draws him into full repentance and acceptance of Christ at the point of conversion (Rom 8:1-4). A believer can only live the life of holiness and run the Christian race by the power of the Holy Spirit (1cor 12:3). It is therefore for our own good, to surrender to the leadership and direction of the Spirit of God. A life in the Spirit is a Spirit controlled life. FOCUS 1. PURPOSE OF LIFE IN THE SPIRIT 2. PROOF OF LIFE IN THE SPIRIT 3. PENTECOST FOR LIFE IN THE SPIRT PURPOSE OF LIFE IN THE SPIRIT John 6:63 16:7-15, Rom 8:2-11, Gal 5:16-18 The purpose of life is a life of purpose. Life in the Spirit is the purpose of life. The man who leaves this world without a record of a lifetime in the Spirit of God and at death, no matter the achievement, lived a wasted life. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them… who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit” and “if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His” (Rom 8:1,9). Living in the Spirit and being controlled by the Spirit guarantee our son-ship right and membership in God’s Kingdom (Rom 8:13-17). The purpose of life is to please God and obey His word. The Spirit of God enables us to do this. (John 6:63; Rom 8:7-8) Today, it is very unfortunate that many believers are devoid of the presence and power of the Spirit of God. They are controlled by self, the flesh and materialism. Many have grieved the Holy Spirit by their lifestyle and the Spirit has left them. They began in the Spirit but are now ending in the flesh (Gal 3:3). Christ is calling such people to repentance today (Rev 2:5) PROOF OF LIFE IN THE SPIRIT Rom 8:14, 1Tim 4:12, Rev 1:9-11 -They operate under the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit -They submit wholeheartedly to the will of God -They manifest God’s grace, glory and gifts -They have absolute confidence and trust in God (Heb 11: 17-19) -They exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5: 22-23) -They long for the things of God (Gal 5:24-26) -They perform miracles, signs and wonders -They are courageous and fearless in adverse conditions PENTECOST FOR LIFE IN THE SPIRIT Acts 2:1-4, Rom 14:17 As believers, we can continue to enjoy Pentecost daily. Transformation is available today through the help of the Spirit in all areas of life. We can live in the Spirit always!
